About Can Tià

Can Tià was born of the simple desire of our founder to rediscover
the taste of the sobrasada that he ate when he was a boy

Can Tià was born of a memory

Can Tià was born of a memory. In 1980, after years of working with butchers, delicatessens and suppliers, Sebastià Simó decided to establish his own brand of sobrasada with just one objective: to rediscover the taste of the sobrasada that he ate when he was a boy.

Can Tià was born thanks to this memory. To find the taste from his childhood, it was not enough to just create a brand. He had to test recipes; to repurchase the family land of Son Buen Aura; to talk with farmers in order to obtain a first litter of Black Mallorcan pigs (a breed that was then facing extinction). Some years later, he made the first products for sale: the Can Tià Black Mallorcan sobrasada was born. However, the company was just beginning.

To produce a product with a traditional taste for the modern palate.
To use traditional recipes for clients who are looking an intense gastronomic experience,
and a healthy, high quality product.

2011 brought a new change. The company Sa Caldera merged with Can Tià Mallorcan Cured Meats in order to be able to preserve the legacy of Sebastià Simó.

In 2015, Can Tià was relaunched. Camaiot and botifarrons were added to the original products but the premise that inspired the first sobrasada is still the same.

Our goal continues to be to provide a Mallorcan tradition to clients who are looking for healthy, high quality food. The food has real flavour just like the homemade dishes of long forgotten childhoods
