Our family is growing: we are rethinking our products and increasing our range.
‘Family’ is a word that we really like. We are a family company. We use recipes that we have learnt at home and those that have been shared with us by local farmers. All our products have a proud heritage and this is why we believe in our cured meats.
The Black Pig Sobrasada bearing our family name is the well-respected matriarch of the family. The twin sister of this product is our Can Tià White Pig Sobrasada. Both are versatile and can adapt to new circumstances and surroundings, just like all mothers.
To complement our range of sobrasadas, we have decided to offer two new traditional Mallorcan cured meats: camaiot and the botifarró sausage. These have always been an integral part of Mallorcan cuisine and, traditionally, have been made after a family pig has been slaughtered. They are now available to our clients.
Camaiot is less well known outside Mallorca. However, those who have tasted it are always keen for a second helping. Like sobrasada, it is a traditional product. However, it has an even older provenance. It dates from the times when a pig was slaughtered to provide sustenance for the winter, when the weather was cold and food was scarce. It is a unique product and one of the jewels in the crown of the gastronomic history of our island.
The last addition to the Can Tià family of cured meats is the botifarró sausage. It contains many different subtle flavours and can be used for modern or traditional dishes. Like the rest of our family’s products, it is made using high quality, free range, sustainable pork.
We are revindicating the word ‘family’: a certain way of doing things and a particular way of understanding the world. We have our traditions; you need to use your imagination. Our unique flavours will become your favourites.
